WARDER, Arthur C. - It is with sadness the family announces the death of Arthur Charles Warder which occurred on Wednesday November 21, 2007 at the age of 89 years. Art is survived by his wife of 66 years, Magdalen; and his three children, Sherry (Ian) Dyck, Keith (Cheryl) Warder and Beth (Peter) Neufeld; grandchildren, Jos (Kristina), Paul (Tracy) and Ryan Dyck; Todd (Nicole) and Kristen Warder; Charmaine (Derick) Sawchyn, Valancy (Kurtis) Bowering and Janinne (Rob) Collins; and great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Jessica, Tawnee, Emily, Bram, Rachel, Christopher, Paige, and Quinn; his sister, Beth Rude and brothers-in-law, Gordon Bristol and Larry Bennetto. Art was born on January 23, 1918 in Birch Hills, SK where he attended school. Here began his love of farming. On December 2, 1941 Art married Magdalen Pushie and the following year enlisted in the Canadian Navy. He served as a sick berth attendant at the RCN Armament Depot in Halifax NS throughout WW II. After the war Art continued farming at Birch Hills. He was a member of many community organizations including elected trustee of the Kinistino School Unit, director of the Birch Hills Co-op Association, director of the Birch Hills Credit Union and member of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Local Committee. He belonged to the Canadian Legion and was a member of the United Church, which he served in many capacities. Art retired from farming in 1985 and moved to Saskatoon with Magdalen where he lived until his death. Dad was hard working, kind, caring, loyal, and devoted to his family and community. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. The family is grateful for the loving care given him by staff at Cedar Gardens PCH and by the hospital staff at 5300 RUH. The funeral will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2007 in St. Pauls United Church, Egbert Avenue, Saskatoon. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Pauls United Church or RUH Foundation. (Saskatoon StarPhoenix 22 Nov 2007)
