SANTERRE, Jean Hugues - (07 February 1938 - 09 July 2020) It is with heavy hearts that family announce the peaceful passing of Jean Hugues Santerre at the age of 82 on July 9, 2020 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Drummondville, QC, he was the eldest son of the late Philippe Santerre and Agnes (Gamache) Santerre. Jean was a loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Rose Marie (Henneberry) Santerre. Jean was a Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces where he served for 33 years. Following his retirement from the Navy he worked as a commissioner at Pratt & Whitney Canada. He was a proud life member and supporter of the Knights of Columbus. His joys included playing the drums, camping with family, completing crossword puzzles and receiving visits from his grandchildren. Jean was a devoted contributor to numerous charities and organizations over his lifetime. Additionally, he is survived and will be missed greatly by his daughters Tracey (Santerre) King of Wassis, NB; Michelle Santerre, Dartmouth; brother Gilles Santerre, Montreal; sister Helene (Santerre) Perreault (predeceased by Serge Perreault), Montreal; 3 grandchildren Stephanie Ouellet (Breagh Ouellet), Jennifer Ouellet and Ryan Ouellet; niece Karine Perrault and nephew David Perrault. A private family service will take place on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Parish in Dartmouth. Internment to take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
