TURNBULL, William Harold (Bill) - It is with sadness that the family of William Harold “Bill” Turnbull, loving husband of Janet (Hamilton) Turnbull, announce his passing which occurred on May 30, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Ottawa, ON, on January 15, 1943 he was the son of the late Isabel and Douglas Turnbull. Bill served with the Canadian Navy for 25 years before working 9 years with Saint John Ship Building Ltd. during the Frigate Program (Tests & Trials). Bill went on to serve 22 years with the Corps of Commissionaires. Bill was a gifted and meticulous woodworker and he also enjoyed cooking and being in the kitchen. He enjoyed his many friends and the great times he had at Bleachers Sports Bar. Above all, Bill was a family man and loved his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his canine companions Bella and Buddha. Besides his wife Jan, he is survived by his daughter Lynda Smith (Chris), his brother-in-law Rob Hamilton (Lynne), his grandchildren; Corey (Kieanne), Chylynn (Dave), Scot, Mark, Alexis (Dan) and Samantha, his many great-grandchildren along with his special nephew Matthew who affectionately called him “Puncle”. He was predeceased by his brothers Bud and Ted. The arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), and at his request there will not be any visitation or funeral service. Remembrances made to the Community Autism Centre Inc. or the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue would be appreciated.
