James Herbert (Jim) Tracy

Born: 1934, Blackpool, England


Died: 13 Feb 2020. Dartmouth, Nova Scotia


TRACY, James (Jim) Herbert - 86, left this world peacefully, at home on February 13th 2020. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather and a wonderful great grandfather “Gampa”. He was predeceased by parents; William and Ada Eileen (Wallace) Tracy, brothers; Gilbert and William (Bill); son James Richard (Rick) Tracy. Left behind to celebrate his life and legacy, are his loving wife Chardell; son; Glenn (Michelle); daughter Lisa Brooks (David), sons; Michael (Sharon Hamilton), and Bruce (Kim Mundle), as well as Rick’s loving wife, Claudia Tracy. He leaves behind seven grandchildren; James, Jordan, Brian, Laura, Joshua, John and Sarah, and four great-grandchildren. Left to mourn also are his loving wife’s, sons; Ricky, Randy and Kenny Tully. Jim was born in Blackpool, England in 1934. At the close of the Second World War; he, along with his mother and brother Bill emigrated to Detroit, Michigan. Following his high school graduation, he came to Canada to enlist in the Royal Canadian Navy in order to serve his adopted country during the Korean conflict. He was very passionate about his naval career and he retired proudly as a Chief Petty Officer, 2nd Class. Jim remained very active and independent as a member of the Melville Heights retirement community, until his last day. Jim’s family would like to sincerely thank all of the residents and staff at Melville Heights for making his time there so enjoyable. We are very grateful to them all. This loss will be felt deeply by all who knew and loved him. We cherish his memory, always. Honouring his wishes, Jim will be cremated and there will be a graveside service at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens, to take place at a date in the upcoming month of May.
