BURWASH, Margaret Jane (Madge) - We are sad to announce the passing of Madge at the age of 100. Madge was born and raised in Winnipeg and was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Ray Burwash; her sisters, Mabel and Maude; and her brothers, Bill, Albert, Alex and Earl. "Auntie Madge" leaves many family members across Canada including Winnipegers: Bill (Ruth) Todd; Brett (Joan) Todd; Bart (Dana) Todd; Tony (Nikki) Todd; Ron Willett; Katie Willett and Karen Burwash. She will also be missed by her great-great-nieces, Dana; Brynn and Spencer Todd and great-great nephew Kaelum Todd. Madge lived a long and fulfilling life. She served Canada in the Navy and worked for many years at Great West Metal. She finished her career teaming up with her sisters, Maude and Mabel looking after customers at the Maude Chapman dress shop. Whether Madge and Ray were cruising with Bill and Ruth; attending Christmas parties with the Hagen Drive neighbours; working out (and/or socializing) at the Reh-Fit Centre; or simply just being with family - Madge always had a smile on her face. The family is grateful that we celebrated Madge's 100th birthday in February. She was always a joy to be around and remained that way until the very end. A private service has been held. A Celebration of Life will take place at an appropriate time when it is safe for friends and family to be together. Thank you to the staff at Tower 5 at Deer Lodge Centre for your dedication and compassion over the last four years. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.  (Winnipeg Free Press 25 Apr 2020)
