KEEPING, John H. - 85, Shoreham Village, Chester, formerly of Indian Point, died March 17, 1993, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Flat Island, Nfld., he was a son of the late John William and Elizabeth (Collins) Keeping. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in Halifax with the Royal Canadian Navy. Prior to retirement, he was an offshore fisherman. He is survived by eight daughters, Nina (Mrs. Albert Skeats), Vancouver; Florence (Mrs. Douglas Smith), Kamloops, B.C.; Julia (Mrs. Stanley Heffler), Alice (Mrs. Percy Mosher), both of Indian Point; Viola Power, Halifax; Valera Hunt, Spryfield; Lillian (Mrs. Richard Hunt), Stewiacke; Jackie (Mrs. Gordon Eisnor), Liverpool; son, John, Hammonds Plains; sister, Mrs. Maude Knee, North Sydney; brother, George, Louisdale; 41 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Lila Isnor; sister, Alice; four brothers, Willis, Charles, Albert, Chesley; grandson, Richard Hunt. The body is in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Union Church, Indian Point, Rev. Fred Snyder officiating.
