Charles Millar (Charlie) Wells

Died: 13 Apr 2020, Halifax, Nova Scotia

 

WELLS, Charles Millar (Charlie) - Age 84, of Hammonds Plains. It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Charles "Charlie" Wells. He passed away peacefully on Monday April 13, 2020 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, with his wife and one of his daughters at his side. Born in Kingston, Ont., he was the eldest son of the late Ross and Nellie Wells. Charlie joined the Royal Canadian Navy at 17 and served until his retirement in 1977. He then worked for CBC until his second retirement in 1996. He enjoyed golfing, playing darts at Calais Legion Branch 62 and watching most sports on TV. He always cheered for the underdog. Charlie is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dianne (Smith); son, Tony (Karen), Enfield; daughters, Cheryl (Tim) DeCrane, Courtenay, B.C.; Heather (Kevin) McCavour, Oromocto, N.B.; Lisa Wells-Crouse (Scott Hawthorne), Dartmouth; stepdaughters, Sherry (Trevor) Vanderauwera, Tammy Murphy (Carmen Quigley), both of Halifax; and Bernice Murphy-Critch (Steven Critch), Dartmouth; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandson. He is also survived by his brother, Ian (Walt Greenway), Toronto, Ont.; sisters, Anella (James) Stewart, Kingston, Ont.; Isobel (Eden) Jefferies, Kingston, Ont.; niece, Melanie Anderson; nephews, Adam Wells and Ryan Stewart. Charlie was predeceased by his granddaughter, Rheanna Faye Crouse; and brother, Nelson. Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be made to Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation.
