Amos Wambolt Hilchey

 

Born: 14 Aug 1920, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

 

Died: 15 Mar 2020, Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia

 

HILCHEY, Amos Wambolt - Age 99, Sheet Harbour pass-ed away Sunday, March 15, 2020 in The Birches Nursing Home, Musquodoboit Harbour. Born August 14, 1920 in Dartmouth, he was a son of the late Clarence Emery and Charlotte Margaret (Wambolt) Hilchey. Amos served on the Lightship No. 15 in Dartmouth as second cook; on the CGS Kapuskasing, on Hydrographic Survey, and served the Naval Forces of Canada on the HMCS Peregrine from 1941 to 1945. He served many employers in the capacity of fireman, including 26 years at Shearwater, HMCS Dockyard, Tryno Construction, Halifax, Fairey Aviation Co. Ltd., Dartmouth, and as a Fireman Grade 1 Eng., HMC Dockyard, Halifax. Survived by his faithful caregiver and friend, Lillian Williams; and several good neighbours. Amos was predeceased by twin brothers, Wilbert and Clarence, Eugene, and Parker; sisters, Norma Kaulback and Eunice McKay. Memorial service and burial will be held at a later date.
