DEWHIRST, John Victor - age 86, passed away March 7, 2020. Born in Leamington, Ont., May 24, 1933, a son of the late Edith Nicholson. John is survived by his sons, Kevin (Janet), Kenneth (Glenda) and daughter, Karen Marquis (Steve) and grandchildren, Kayla (Matthew) Gallant, Steven Marquis Jr. and Sean Marquis and great-grandchildren, Kaden Dewhirst and Emery Gallant. John was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Dewhirst and grandson, Kristian Dewhirst. John joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served 25 years. Upon retiring, he pursued a career with the Workers Compensation Board of Nova Scotia. In 1988 he retired again to enjoy the coming years with Dorothy. Retirement did not mean he was going to stop working. He was actively involved with his own business, Scotia Evergreens Christmas Trees with his sons, Kevin and Kenny. This enabled him to work side-by-side with his sons and enjoy the outdoors. John had a passion for the outdoors, gardening, travelling, reading and of course, woodworking. He did not like to stop. A family Graveside Service will be held at a later date. Cremation entrusted to Dartmouth Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Society and Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building, QEII. The family would like to extend a grateful and loving thank you to all those at Camp Hill Hospital. Please know you will always be forever in our hearts for the love and friendship you extended to our father.
