OWSANSKI, Victor Joseph - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather Victor Owsanski at the age of 84. He died peacefully at St. Michael's Hospice in Burnaby on November 9, 2003, with his family members by his side. Predeceased by his beloved wife Gwen; grandson Michael; sisters, Velma and Evelyn; brothers, Dick and Ted. Dad is survived by his sons, Ron (Ann) and Garry (Stella); granddaughters, Joanne (8) and Leanne (9); grandson Gordon (Sharon); great-granddaughter, Sarah (22mo); great-grandson Jacob (3mo); sister Vi (Jim); brothers, Peter, Cas (Eileen), Hank (Fran); 31 nieces and nephew;, and his best friend Barney. Victor was a true gentleman with a positive spirit that touched all those who were fortunate to have met him. He was born in Beausejour, Manitoba. His career was a longshoreman for 30 years on the Vancouver waterfront. He served as a chief petty officer for the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. A special thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Team in Burnaby. No service by request. A Celebration of his life will be held from 3-5 pm on Saturday, November 15th at the Best Western Kings Inn Conference Center, 5411 Kingsway, Burnaby, for close friends and relatives. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that donation may be made to the B.C. Cancer Foundation in memoriam. (Vancouver Sun 13 Nov 2003)
