Died: 10 Feb 2020, Nanaimo, British Columbia

 

HILES, Melvin - passed away peacefully on February 10, 2020 in Kiwanis Lodge, Nanaimo. Mel was born on August 28, 1929 in Dummer, Saskatchewan. He joined the Canadian Navy in 1948 in Victoria, B.C. He retired in 1973 and moved to Mesachie Lake, then to Lake Cowichan and finally Nanaimo. Beloved husband of the late Ileen. Loving father of Wayne (Sharon), Ken (Janice), Clint, and Garth (Siobhan). Cherished grandfather of Desmond, Rick, David (deceased), Philip, Clayton, Sheena, Lyndsey, Clint Jr., Andrea, Randy, and Tyler. Great grandfather of 18. Great great grandfather of two. Dear brother of Laura Wall and Clinton Hiles Sr. (deceased). Many thanks to the staff of Kiwanis Lodge for their kind and compassionate care. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 1:00pm in the chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo.
