Died: 09 Mar 1963, Halifax, Nova Scotia

 

MURPHY, Gordon (Turk) - 46, 120 Albert Street, Halifax, died Saturday following a short illness.

A well-known, life-time resident of north-end Halifax, he was employed with the Naval Fire Service, HMC Dockyard, after wartime service with the RCN.

He was a member of Burns Lodge, Number 10, AF and AM; the Royal Union Chapter, Number 1, Naval Fire Fighters Association, and the Naval Civil Service Association.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel; three daughters, Sandra, Sharon, and Sheila; one son, Stephen, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Murphy, of Halifax; two brothers, Victor, of Halifax, and Walter, of Camp Gagetown, N.B.; and two sisters, Meta (Mrs. Leo Miles), and Mamie (Mrs. Roy Pickrem), both of Halifax.

The body is at Halifax Funeral Home, Quinpool Road. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. from United Memorial Church, with Rev. I. Archer officiating.
