RUTHERFORD, Chester Frederick - 98, Truro. We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our father, Chester, who passed away peacefully surrounded by love on the morning of January 20, 2020 at the age of 98 years. Born in Truro on April 16, 1921, he was the seventh child of the late Hollis and Grace (Wynn) Rutherford. He served in the Canadian Navy as a Wireless Operator during the Second World War. He was an accomplished marksman, loved travelling, dancing, fishing and bowling, but most of all, he loved his family. He leaves behind his brother, Aubrey Rutherford; his children, Archie (Vivian) Rutherford, Sandra (Garry) Matthews, Gary (Debbie) Rutherford, Randy (Heather) Rutherford, Susan (Darrell) MacPhee and Hollis (Betty) Rutherford; his twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and his special cat, Mikey. He was predeceased by his wife, Thurza (Logan) and son, Bobby. Thank you to the staff of Munroe Court Assisted Living, Wynn Park Villa and the Palliative Care Team at Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their compassion and care. There will be no visitation or funeral by his request. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Colchester Branch #26 Poppy Fund. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
