HOPPER, Robert Allen - On December 9, 2019 at Deer Lodge Vets Wing, Robert Allen Hopper, aged 93, passed away with loved ones by his side. Bob was born in Cartwright, MB in 1926. Bob joined the Navy at 17 years of age, spent time during the Second World War in Scotland and was posted in England during the great bombing. After the war Bob became a Chief Petty Officer, marrying Noreen Garvey. Bob was predeceased by Noreen after 67 years of marriage. He became a Customs Appraiser until retirement when Noreen and Bob became Winnipeg snowbirds and had a home in Mesa, AZ. They also travelled around the world enjoying retirement. Bob loved wood working, stained glass and was very artistic. Survived by daughter Marsha; loving granddaughter Shayle; grandson Ryan and great-grandchildren Kaysa and Kallie. I would like to say a special thank you to Nonnee and John, Allen and Sue, Corey and Susan and caregiver Lynne for all the joy you gave Dad in his final years with your visits, cards and letters. A special thank you also to Deer Lodge nurses, care aides and support staff that made every day a happy one for him. He was truly happy and loved his room. His favorite saying "Off like a herd of Turtles" made everyone laugh, his humour was always present. Rest in peace my dear Dad. You were a gentle soul and a guiding light in my life. You will be so dearly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held June 27, 2020 at 7 Fitzgerald Crescent for a celebration of life dinner from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. RSVP by June 1, 2020.
