Lawrence G. Bachman

 

Died: 02 Jun 1986, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia

 

BACHMAN, Lawrence G. - 76, of Heckman's Island, Lunenburg County, once a crewman on Bluenose I, died Monday in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Second Peninsula, Lunenburg County, he was a son of the late George and Nora (Shupe) Bachman. In his earlier years he was a fisherman in the area, and later sailed as crew member on Bluenose I. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Royal Canadian Navy. He was employed with National Sea Products, Lunenburg, until his retirement. He was a member of Central United Church, Lunenburg. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife, the former Charlotte Winters, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Eileen, and two infant children. The body is in the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. Family visits only. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m. Rev. Donald MacPherson officiating. Burial will be in Heckman's Island Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heckman's Island Cemetery Fund or to any charity.
