HICK, Robert Charles John - age 74 of Glen Margaret. It is with great sadness that the family of Robert, beloved husband, father and grampy announce his death on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the VG Site, QEII. Born in Bermuda and raised in Hackett's Cove, Robert was a beloved son of the late Charles and Odessa (Boutilier) Hick. Robert was a carpenter by trade, followed by three years in the Royal Canadian Navy. The majority of his career was spent as a Refrigeration A/C Mechanic until his retirement in 2002. Robert was happiest when surrounded by family and friends; lending a helping hand or keeping busy at whatever task presented itself. His grandchildren thought he could fix anything. He had a passion for his wife Doreen and dancing, his two loves. He enjoyed hunting, camping, canoeing, baking, and old time country music, along with his furry friend Rex. Robert will be remembered for his sense of humour and his kind and caring ways but most of all his big heart. Survived by his wife, Doreen (Hubley); son, Lohn, Stillwater Lake; daughter, Deanna Newell, Glen Margaret; brother, Carlyle (Gloria) Hick, New Minas; sisters, Elizabeth Morash, Denise Hick, both of Halifax; Lorraine Green, Glen Haven; Odessa Southern, Bed ford; grandchildren, Kylee, Jessica, John, Dylan; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister, Darlene Morash. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 16th, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Upper Tantallon. Special thanks to the staff at the Palliative Care Unit 7A, VG Site, QEII. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
