St. Clair Harvie (Joey) Patterson

Died: 24 Aug 2022, Windsor, Nova Scotia

 

PATTERSON, St. Clair Harvie (Joey) - age 97, of Windsor, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 in the Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born in Hantsport, he was the son of the late Everett and Jessie (Harvie) Patterson.

 

Joey joined the Royal Canadian Navy on May 8, 1943 and served during the 2nd World War on HMCS ARVIDA K113, before joining the Navy he signed on the S.S. “Gypsum Prince”, carrying Gypsum to U.S. ports. Joey also worked for a foundation towing company on a tug boat in the Halifax Harbor. He worked various jobs in Hantsport, retiring in 1985 as manager of Basinview Village in Wolfville. Joey was past President of Lucknow Branch 109 Royal Canadian Legion, Hantsport; past President of Hantsport and area Historical Society. He was passionate about history and wrote three books in his lifetime – focusing on shipbuilding. Joey was a member and deacon of the Hantsport Baptist Church.

 

Joey is survived his children, John (Linda), Hants Border; Stephen ( Marlene), Hants Border; Edward (Leona) , Windsor and Cartersville, Georga; Lynn Patterson,; Alice Schofield(Chuck Sickels), Vaughan and Alabama; Patrick (Katrina) Patterson, Hortonville; Patricia (Calvin) Leggett, Upper Vaughan; grandchildren, Kevin (Deloris), Kimberly “Kim” (Dave) Trottier, Aaron, Heather (Bobby) Strang, Sabrina, Jason, Kandace, Jamie (Kristan), Stephanie (Matt) Haas, Jessie (Zac), Ryan (Jessica) Leggett, Tera Leggett; great grandchildren, Owen, Brandon, Christine, Caleb, Austin, Kaylee, Andrew, Archer St. Clair, Alexander St. Clair, Elijah, Colton, Natalie; great-great granddaughter, Willow.

 

Joey was predeceased by his wife, Eudora (2018); siblings, Arthur, Frank, Gordon, Frederick, Jean; son-in-law, David Schofield.

 

Arrangements are under the care of the Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0.

 

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 009 will hold their service 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in the Hantsport Baptist Church, 6 Willow Street, Hantsport with Memorial Service to follow. Rev. Terry Coldwell and Rev. Jennifer Riley officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport.
