SHUPE, Gordon Henry Leslie - 66, of Bedford, died Monday in the Victoria General Hospital. Born in Lunenburg, he was the son of the late Henry and Laura (Berringer) Shupe. A veteran of the Second World War, he was on active duty in the Royal Canadian Navy for six years. He also served in the Royal Bank for 35 years in Windsor, Pictou, Bridgewater and Bedford, opening the Bedford branch in 1959. At the time of his death he was with the firm of Nesbitt, Thomson, Bongard Inc in Halifax. For the past two years he was on the board of the Victoria General Hospital. Surviving, besides his wife Anna, are two daughters, Elizabeth (Mrs Michael S Ryan) of Halifax and Anne (Mrs Robert Boutilier) of Bedford; and a sister Lucille (Mrs L Bowen-Smith) of Bridgewater; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by one daughter Margaret. The body was in the Lindsay Funeral Home at Bedford. Funeral service was held Wednesday at 11 am in the United Church in Bedford, Rev John Steer officiating. The body will be cremated. Committal will be in the family lot, Brookside Cemetery, Bedford. Note: Gordon's obituary in the Halifax Chronicle Herald Tuesday, July 22, 1980 page 26 incorrectly lists his sister Lucille as a daughter and does not mention his daughter Anne. This was corrected in the Bridgewater Bulletin obituary.

 

Gordon is mentioned in the wedding announcement of his sister Lucille Elizabeth Shoop to Petty Officer Leonard Bowen-Smith in Aug 1942 as Gordon Shoop.
