David John (Dave) Jones

Died: 28 Nov 2020, Simcoe, Ontario, Canada

 

JONES, David John - Passed away at the Norfolk General Hospital on Saturday November 28th, 2020. Mr. Davey Jones of Simcoe in his 97th year. Born in Wales on September 11, 1924. Loving father of Cathy Nie (Robert) of Cambridge and Cindy Wohlsclagel (Chris) of Georgia. Cherished Grandpa to Jeffry (Brandy), Michelle (Jason), Michael and Melissa (Joshua). Great Grandpa to Hope, Morgan, Julia, Sierra, Makenna, Evan, Carter, Lauryn, Avery and Arlo. Predeceased by his parents Albert and Mabel Jones, stepmother Beatrice, twin sister Rhoda Bee, son David and Alice Jones. Davey will be sadly missed by many other relatives and friends. Davey served with the Royal Canadian Navy in WWII. He was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 79 Simcoe. Davey was very active, playing hockey nearly his entire life, and in recent years he played table tennis with his friends. Davey was a retired employee of the American Can. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday December 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Veterans Section of Oakwood Cemetery. The Reverend Bryan Robertson (Padre) officiating. With respect to Covid 19 we would ask that guests wishing to attend, register with name and phone numbers of those attending by calling 519-426-1314 between 9:00 and 4:00 p.m. or email ferris@kwic.com. Face masks and social distancing rules are required. Arrangements are entrusted to the Ferris Funeral Home, 214 Norfolk St. S., Simcoe.
