JOYCE, John Albert – 63, of Barrington Passage, passed away at home on August 27, 2019. Born May 22, 1956 at Sackville, NB, he was a son of the late John Bradley and Gwendolyn Anne (Helm) Joyce. John was a veteran and served in Cornwallis, Winnipeg, Egypt (NATO), Lahr, HMCS Athabascan and CFS Barrington. John was an avid curler and sports fan and was a founding member of Barrington Regional Curling Club. He has served on the Board of Directors and acted as Bonspiel Chairman, President, and Vice President. He has been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #148 for 21 years and held the position of Sargent at Arms, Membership Chairman and Branch Service Officer. He received the Diamond Jubilee Century of Service award in 2010, as well as the Life Member award in 2015. He volunteered with the VON visiting program and was the HMCS Athabascan Chairman for the United Way while posted in Halifax. He has been a member of the Lion’s Club since 2017 and was on the Board of Directors and several fundraising committees. He was the loving husband of Kim and the proud father of Andy and Mark. He is survived by his wife, Kim (Christie) Joyce; sons, Andrew, Mark (Stephanie); brothers, Curtis (Shirley), Charles (Joanne), Jimmy (Georgina), Michael, Wally (Sue), Robert; sisters, Mary (Brian) Anderson; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Eugene (Bev), Donald (Juanita), Richard, Brian; and sisters, Joan (John’s twin), Jocelyn, and Marilyn (Bernie) LeBlanc. There will be no visitation by request. The funeral service will be held Friday, August 30, at H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Eddie Nickerson officiating. Interment to follow in the Centreville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
