LOCKIE, James Edward Harrison (Jim) - It is with saddened hearts that the 71 family members of James (Jim) Edward Harrison Lockie are announcing his passing on August 27, 2019. Born May 14, 1936 in Kitchener, Ont., he was a son of Kenneth James Lockie and Eileen Mae (Hall). Predeceased by his siblings, Dianne, Bob, and Jack. Leaving home at the age of 15, he ventured out in the woods to become a lumberjack, but ended up joining the military. On July 5, 1959, he married Shirley Christina (Chase) who sadly passed on March 7, 1995. They were happily married for 36 years and raised their children, Valerie (Brad), Betty (Ken), Kathy (Jeff), Rebecca (Tom), and their baby boy, Jamie (Jacquie). His expansive knowledge of intricate aircraft control systems was revealed during his 35 years serving with Naval Air and the RCAF and then 10 years with the IMP Group. Jim married Abagail "Gail" Catherine (Crossman) on August 17, 1996 becoming stepdad to Christine (Rob), Karen (Ken), RoseAnn (Terry), Michael, Andrew (Alice), Carol (Wayne) and Cindy. He is also survived by sister, Jean. Over the years, he developed a discerning taste for good wine and during his final days was still trying to give his wine glass to Gail. His generous spirit and patient soul was influential in sharing the blessing of raising the twins. He was encircled with so much love during his last days in the hospital; even the staff were touched by his humour and sweet demeanour and are so thanked for their amazing support during this time. Any heartfelt donations would benefit Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. There will be a commemoration of his life Saturday, August 31st at 11 a.m., in St. Clement Church, 16 Gaston Rd., Dartmouth. Reception to follow downstairs in the church hall. Arrangements are entrusted to Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen St., Dartmouth.  "Fair Winds and Following Seas!" (Halifax Chronicle-Herald 30 Aug 2019)
