Edward John Dowling

 

Master Seaman, RCN / C.A.F.

 

Born: 03 Jan 1934, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

 

Died: 12 Jul 2019, Edmonton, Alberta

 

DOWLING, Edward John - Passed away peacefully on July 12, 2019 in Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, Alta., at the age of 85. Predeceased by his wife, Leona (Peltier); and son, George Patrick. Born in Dartmouth on January 3, 1934 to parents, Florence Alice Aulenbach and CWO Henry Dennis Dowling. He served with the Royal Canadian Forces from 1953-1975 which included many tours overseas and retired as Master Corporal. He and Leona (Peltier) were married on August 11, 1956. He was a maintenance supervisor and mechanic at Greenwood Golf Course until he retired in 2015. He was a loving husband and father who always put his family and friends first. He enjoyed nature, fishing, hunting and spending time with others. He will be fondly remembered by his children, Wanda, John (Sonny), Douglas, Patricia, and Alec. Proud grandfather of Kristin, Sarah, Michael, Alaina, Shane, Justin, James, Nick, Ember, Stephen, Theodore, Jamie and Michelle. Also many great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters, Nancy (Jack Fowler), Kaye, Mary (Ross Butterfield) and Rose. Predeceased by brothers, Harry, George, Albert; and sister, Florence (Harding). He will be dearly missed. He was cremated and his ashes will be returned to Nova Scotia at a later date. A celebration of life will be held on July 12, 2020 in Mackies Meadows on Tremont Mountain.
