Roy Wilfred Nauffts

 

Died: 12 Jul 2019, Brookfield, Guysborough Co., Nova Scotia

 

NAUFFTS, Roy Wilfred - A resident of Brentwood Ponds Retirement Home, Brookfield, formerly of Spanish Ship Bay, Guysborough Co., Roy passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, July 12, 2019 at the age of 97 years. Born and raised in Woodside, he was the son of the late George and Laura Nauffts (Croft). A veteran of the Second World War, Roy was posted at ports throughout the North Atlantic and on various vessels protecting convoys crossing the Atlantic. After the war, Roy married Delta Margarite Horton of Spanish Ship Bay and they built a home in Woodside. Roy worked for Imperial Oil his entire working life retiring in 1983. After his retirement, he and Delta moved to Spanish Ship Bay. The last surviving member of his immediate family, Roy was predeceased by his sisters, Elsie (Mrs. Norm Laybolt) and May (Mrs. Wilfred Beazley); his wife of over 50 years, Delta Margarite Nauffts (Horton); nephews, Albert and Fred Whare and companion, Ruby Nauffts. Roy is survived by nieces, Janet (Mrs. Peter Carrigan), Eastern Passage; Judy Henebury, Spryfield; Betty Laybolt (Larry), Hardwoodlands; and Esther McClaren, Hammonds Plains; along with many great-nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the owners and staff of Brentwood Ponds Retirement Home for Roy's care. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Service and burial will be held on August 3rd at 2 p.m. in St. Luke's Anglican Church, Liscomb. Reception to follow in Spanish Ship Bay Legion.
