George Thomas Garnett

Died: 10 Jul 2019, Windsor, Nova Scotia

GARNETT, George Thomas - Age 97 of Fall River, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Halifax, George was a son of the late George James and Rose Garnett. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in his teens, where he received four Service Medals during the war which brought him great pride. Following his service he was employed with Brookfield Construction Company as a diesel mechanic, then was employed with the Department of Highways until his retirement. After retiring, George and Annie would travel to Florida and spend their winter months in sunshine with George and Valerie. They were captivated by the orange trees and all of the beautiful nature surrounding them. Returning home to Nova Scotia was especially exciting as the best times were spent with their loving family. George will be deeply missed by his children, George Jr., Stanley (Agnes), Grant (Christine), Ann Marie (Robert), Valerie (Arnie); sister, Emma; cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Annie; brothers, Lawrence, Harry, Lewis, Wally; sisters, Ann, Rose; grandson, Walter. A special thank you to the staff of Hants Community Hospital for their kindness and compassion. A private Graveside Service will be held in Oakridge Memorial Gardens at a later date. For those wishing, donations to The War Amps of Canada or Mission to Seafarers Halifax would be appreciated. (Halifax Chronicle-Herald 12 Jul 2019)
