William Fowler (Bill) Smith

 

Died: 04 Jan 2010, Hamilton, Ontario

 

SMITH, William Fowler - Peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital on Monday, January 4, 2010, one week after his 84th birthday. Bill passed on to be with his beloved wife Lydia, who predeceased him 3 years ago. He is predeceased by his brother Archie. Will be sadly missed by his daughters Sharon Norris (Doug) and Valerie Nichol (Denis), his grandchildren Bobby (Sheri), Dougie, and Lisa, and great-grandchildren Krista, Brooke and Jessica. Also survived by his sisters-in-law Thora Smith and Doreen Sherwood (Bruce) and brother-in-law Tom Morris (Stela). Bill was a veteran of World War II, serving in the North Atlantic with the R.C.N. After the war, Bill joined the Hamilton Fire Department and a short time later switched to the Hamilton Police Service, from which he retired after a long and distinguished career. As per Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Ave. Drive, Stoney Creek, on Friday, January 8, 2010 at 1 p.m. In Bill's memory, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
