In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
HEWITSON, John Alexander (Jack) (1920 – 2013) It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton. Dad, in his 94th year, was predeceased by his loving wife, Phyllis (Misner), and companions Ccil Branion and Louise Gravelt. Loved and remembered by his son, Terry (and Ann), daughter Bonnie (and Bill) Peace, grandchildren Sherri (and John) Young, Bill Peace Jr., Brad (and Stephanie) Peace, and great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Alexa, Owen and Neven Peace, Brittany Werner and Jordan Young, predeceased by his grandchildren David Royal and Sheline Mullett. Dad was born in Hamilton, brother to Belle, Tom, Violet, "Jen", Hazel, Dorothy, Margaret, Betty and Bob, a proud RCN Veteran of WW II in the North Atlantic. He was a 35 year International Harvester, Hamilton Works employee before his retirement and an avid pleasure boat builder. He was a founding member of Westmount Baptist Church. The family would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to staff and his friends at Westmount Terrace Retirement Residence. And thank you to staff in Emergency and 6th Floor GI at St. Joseph's for their care during his short stay. Cremation has already taken place, at Dad's request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dad to the charity of your choice are appreciated. (Hamilton Spectator 17 Dec 2013)
