For Posterity's Sake A Royal Canadian Navy Historical Project
In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
WRIGHT, Carl J. - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carl at GBGH Penetanguishene on Sunday January 19th, after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 80 years. Proud husband of Anna of more than 59 years, and proud father of son Chris (Lorna), daughter Karen (Bob Dubeau), son Dean (predeceased) and daughter Teresa (Wayne Quesnelle). He leaves 6 much loved grandchildren; Deanna Wright, Jay and Lise Dubeau, Erin and Nick Wright, and Kate Quesnelle. He also leaves his sister Bernice Turner of Winnipeg. Carl came to Midland after spending 21 years in the Royal Canadian Navy serving in Shearwater and sailing on many ships out of Halifax. Carl worked at RCA and TRW and at Solo in Toronto before retiring to Penetanguishene. After retiring Carl enjoyed many hours of boating on Georgian Bay in his prized Grew boat. He most enjoyed the times when all his family could be around him to share food, a drink and a laugh. Carl was a good guy, who will be dearly missed by many. At this time our family would like to express our most sincere thanks to Dr. Rob Helt who took such good care of Carl and didn't seem to mind the many house calls. Also the nurses at CCAC and the Red Cross gals. Also, the care from the staff at the Penetanguishene Hospital, 1st and 2nd floors, was wonderful. We will be forever grateful. Visitation will be held at the Penetanguishene Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Penetanguishene on Saturday January 25th from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service in the chapel at 12 noon. A reception for family and friends and a celebration of Carl's life to follow the service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Penetanguishene. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Georgian Bay General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. (Orillia Today 23 Jan 2014)
