Robert George Wesley (Bob) Lindsey

 

Born: 22 Jun 1926, Hamilton, Ontario

 

Died: 17 Dec 2014, Grimsby, Ontario

 

LINDSEY, Robert George Wesley (Bob) - Suddenly, at home in Grimsby, December 17, 2014. Born in Toronto, June 22, 1926. Eldest son of Walter Lindsey and Alice Wark. Bob left school to serve in the RCN during WWII. He then attended Queen's University and Emmanuel College, and volunteered with the literacy organization Frontier College. An ordained minister of the United Church of Canada, Bob served congregations in northern Manitoba and Ontario, and the Division of Mission at Church headquarters. He also served many years with the Presbyterian Church of Grenada, WI. He was a passionate and life-long activist for social justice. His novel, Royal Spring, dealt with the themes of social class and religious prejudice in early 20th Century Canada. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Wilma, and children Joe (Deb), Cathie, Robert (Miho), Amy (Theo), Mark (Diane), and Mary, and also grandchildren Michael, Alex, Kaitlin, and Nicholas. He is survived by brother Joe (Louise), predeceased by brother Dick (Mary). Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Vineland Chapel of Tallman Funeral Homes (3277 King Street, Vineland, ON) on Saturday, December 27, 2014. Funeral service at 2:00, followed by a reception.
