John G. Sim

 

Died: 19 Sep 2016 age 97

 

SIM, John G. - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. John G. Sim, on Monday, September 19, 2016, at U.H. in his 97th year. Jock is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Dorothy, children John (Wendy) of Port Stanley, Janet (Ulli) of Germany. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, Jeff (Michelle), Komoka, Joel (Jenn), S.C., Jason (Tammy), Kilworth, Mandy (Colin), Milton, Victoria (Eric), Mt. Brydges, Heather (Comacho), Brantford. Adored by 13 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his twin brother, Rev. George Sim of St. Jacobs, nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents and 4 older brothers. Jock was a loving father, grandfather, great-grand- father, always dedicated to family and the church. He successfully enjoyed 3 careers, becoming a tool and die maker in 1939, RCN served Navy 1943-1946, obtaining his B.A. in Education 1969, followed by his Masters Degree and PhD. He spent over 25 years in the co-op education field, retiring from Fanshawe College in 1985, followed by 20 years of private career counselling. A special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff of 4th and 10th floors at U.H. Cremation has taken place. A "Celebration of Life" service at Metropolitan Church will be held Saturday, October 22nd at 2:30 p.m. Charitable donations in John's name can be made to the Metropolitan Church and the University Hospital.
