George Henry Lumsden

Born: 1924          Died: 2017

LUMSDEN, George Henry - Entered his eternal rest March 18, in his 94th year. Lovingly remembered by his wife Betty (Marshall) of 74 years, and his son John (Judy) of Kitchener. Grandpa to grand- daughters Jane (Stephen) Coe, Janet (Michael) Bast, and Julie (Nathan) Belcher. "Big Papa" is also missed by six great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Margaret of Canmore, Alberta and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Robert of Woodstock and William of Edmonton. George was a lifelong resident of Woodstock, a WWII Veteran (R.C.N.), and one of the last of "The Greatest Generation." A private family service of celebration and remembrance will take place at a later date. Cremation has taken place. As expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to any one of George's favourite charities: World Vision, Oxford Youth Unlimited, or Alzheimer Society of Oxford. Arrangements may be made through the Smith-Leroy Funeral Home , 69 Wellington St. N., Woodstock, 519-537-3611. Special thanks to Trudy Gibson and the staff of Forest Heights Long Term Care, especially those of Gibbon House. "If you could see me now I'm walking streets of gold If you could see me now I'm standing tall and whole If you could see me now You'd know I've seen his face." (Waterloo Region Record 21 Mar 2017)
