HENDERSON, Arthur Thomas - 81, died November 28, 2007, at his home in Weymouth. Born in Montreal, he was a son of the late James And Celena (Ryan) Henderson. Arthur spent four years in the navy and was in the second group to graduate from Cornwallis Naval base. He then spent 25 years with Bombardier, formerly Montreal Locomotives. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Montreal. After retirement in 1983, Art moved to Weymouth where he became involved in many community activities. He was a life long member of the Weymouth Kiwanis Club, serving as president for two terms. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 67. He was a member and president of the Weymouth Garden Club for Nova Scotia. For 25 years he supervised young people in developing and maintaining public gardens in the community. He was an active member of Heartz Memorial United Church and a loyal member of the Weymouth Historical Society. Along with his dedicated volunteering, the community will miss his love of conversation, his spirited opinions and his sence of humour. Arthur is survived by his wife, Teresa; brother, William, Georgetown, Ont.; nephews, Ross and Brock, and five nieces. He was predeceased by brother, Donald. There will be no funeral service. Committal of ashes will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. (Halifax Chronicle-Herald 30 Nov 2007 / Research by George Newbury)
