Died: 18 Aug 1980, Halifax, Nova Scotia

 

CAREY, Thomas C. - Capt, Master Mariner, ret'd - 37 Farrell Street, Dartmouth, died Monday in Victoria General Hospital. Born in Kingston, Ont., he was a son of the late Catherine and Alexander Carey. A retired master mariner, he was employed at the Halifax Dockyard for 21 years. During the Second world war, he served in the Royal Canadian Navy. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Somme Branch No. 31. Surviving are his wife, the former Ina Tucker; two sons, Thomas, Dartmouth, and Edward, Ottawa; a daughter, Mary, Toronto; a brother, Edward, Kingston, Ont.; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother John and a sister Margaret Holland, both of Kingston, Ont. The body is in Mattatall's Funeral Home, Dartmouth. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Dartmouth, Rev. John Driscoll officiating, with cremation to follow.
