BIXBY, Charles Walter Sr. - 85, Hamilton, Ont., died Monday at home. Born in Essex, England, he was a son of the late Walter and Rose Louise (Turle) Bixby. He served as a chief petty officer in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. He owned and operated several business in the Halifax area, including Bixby's Fish and Chips, Bixby's Post Office, Bixby's Oil Burners and Bixby's Printing Ltd. He is survived by two sons, John, Charles, both of Hamilton; three daughters, Beverley, (Mrs. Ronald Dean), Mrs. Jeanie Jay, both of Hamilton; Rosemary (Mrs. Gordon Haley) Halifax; two brothers, George, Hamilton, Jack, California, 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Rose Carter, his second wife Daisy Richardson; a daughter, Dorothy (Mrs. Edward Boylon). The body is in Dodsworths and Brown Funeral Home, Hamilton, where funeral will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, Archdeacon John Rathbone officiating. Charles' parents were Walter Thomas BIXBY & Rose Louise TURL whose marriage took place in 1903 in Essex. The family came to Canada after WWI and settled in Hamilton. Charles Bixby is buried in the Woodland Cemetery, Hamilton, ON.
