BEATTIE, George H. (12 Oct 1924 - 19 Oct 2006) - At Woodstock General Hospital on Thursday October 19, 2006. George H. Beattie of Knightsbridge Rd., Woodstock in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of F. Eileen Beattie (nee Webster) for over 60 years. Dear father of Theresa Reynard and her husband Tim of Regina, David and his wife Vivian of Alabama, Kathleen Hie and her husband Clifford, Elizabeth Anne, Robert, Colleen, Brien and his companion Doris and Margaret all of Woodstock. Loved grandfather of 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Dear brother of June Williams of Michigan. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Madaline Beattie and his brother Fred. George was a veteran of WW II with the Royal Canadian Navy and was employed at Standard Tube for over 33 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, founding member of the Woodstock Naval Veterans Association and Past President of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #55 Woodstock. Friends may call at the R. D. Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave. Woodstock, (519-539-0004) on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral mass will be held from Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, 904 Dundas St., Woodstock on Monday at 10:00 am with Fr. Andrew Kowalczyk CSMA officiating. Interment in the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. Contributions to the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Prayers will be conducted on Sunday at 1:30pm and a Royal Canadian Legion Service will be held on Sunday at 6:30 pm in the funeral home chapel.
