MICHAUD, Garry - age 68, of Cambridge. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Garry on May 12, 2019 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Edmonton, Alta., on March 22, 1951, Garry joined the Canadian Armed Forces (Navy) in 1971 where he served for 20 years attaining the rank of Naval Lieutenant until retirement in 1991. Following retirement, Garry was employed for 15 years in the Federal Public Service (DND), specifically at the Fleet Maintenance Facility Cape Scott, in Halifax. Garry is survived by his husband of 30 years, Barry Floyd Verge (Jollymore); sister, Gail Litun (Barry), Edmonton; brother, Darryl Michaud (Debbie), Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.; his second mom, Agnes Michaud, Fort Saskatchewan; half-brothers, Dale Montminy and Gerald Montminy, Tilbury, Ont. and Brian Bouck (Hilda), Florida and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his little four-legged companions, Squirt and Miss Sarah-Jane. Garry was predeceased by his mother, Alice (Rene Montminy) (Michaud); half-brother, Wade Montminy (Zorka), Guelph, Ont. and second dad, Philip Michaud (Agnes), Fort Saskatchewan; aunt, Cecile Elzinga (Michaud), Fort Saskatchewan. Garry was active as a volunteer in the local community. He served as the Vice-Chairperson of the Race Relations and Anti-Discrimination Committee for the Municipality of the County of Kings, a Member of the Board of Directors for Grand View Manor in Berwick and as a member of the Police Services Advisory Board. The Funeral Mass will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 16th, in Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Mission, Kentville. Father John MacPherson officiating. Burial to follow at 2 p.m. Friday, May 17th in St. Anthony's/St. Augustine's Catholic Church Cemetery, Simms Settlement., Lunenburg Co. Memorial donations may be made to Litters and Critters. Special Thanks to Dr. Michael Sinclair, Kentville, Dr. Mary MacNeil and staff of QEII Health Science Centre Cancer Clinic, Halifax and Maders Phamarachoice Coldbrook and close friends.
