In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
GRAVES, Hugh - of Brookside. Hugh was born July 14, 1934 and lived a great life! It is with deepest sadness that we announce his passing. Hugh died suddenly and peacefully at home as per his wish on April 23, 2019. Through his various careers including his proud service in the Navy, his greatest success was his family and his love of life. Hugh is survived by sister, Lorraine Hasler; his children, Kim (Walter Jamieson), Anne Marie (Tom McLean), Tanya (Blair Ryan), Lise (Vernon Gaudet) and Max (Jocelyn Melanson). Proud Graves' always. His grandchildren were the source of this greatest pride, Michael George, Lindsay, Lauren, Christopher and Chelsea McLean, Daniel and Gabrielle Gaudet, Jonathan and Adam Graves. He loved all of his great-grandchildren as well as the dozens of nieces and nephews that were a big part of his life. Hugh is gone to join his beloved wife, Irene (Welsh) and his parents, William T. Graves and Mary Ellen (Gaudet) and his brother, Bill and sister, Paulette. We would like to acknowledge his adopted family, the Welsh's, who embraced him as one of his own and to thank the Osbourne Street Tim Horton's gang for contributing to the richness of his life. Special thanks to Dr. Valerie Lewis for the excellent care through his latter years. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that you donate to a charity of your choice. A service is being held in St. John the Baptist Parish, located at 1102 Purcell's Cove Road in Halifax, at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27th. A reception celebrating his life will be announced during the service. (Halifax Chronicle-Herald 26 Apr 2019)
