BROOKS, Roy Reginald - 85, Boutilier's Point, passed away Monday, April 6, 2009, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Charlestown, Mass., he was a son of the late John and Garnet (Dorey) Brooks. Roy served a short time in the Royal Canadian Navy before being drafted to the American Navy where he served over 30 years; serving in the Second World War, The Korean Conflict and The Vietnam wars, then, returning home to Nova Scotia in 1996. He is survived by his wife, the former Joan M. (Rhyno-Graves) Brooks; children, Garnet (Joseph) Vicars, Janet (Micky) Thomas, Sheri Ellen (Rod) Gallagher, Veronica, Timothy, Patrick (Elaine), Karan (Robert) Manuel, Deborah (Lloyd) Marriott, Victoria (Jerry) Nauss, Pamela (Joseph) Pike, Robyn Graves, Shawn (Louise) Graves, Floyd Graves; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; special god children, Alexis, Ashton, Jonas and Caleb; sister, Evelyn; half-brothers and sisters, Cyril, Gerald, Wayne, Donnie, Bobby, Gary, Jimmy, Marion. He was predeceased by his brothers, George, Jack "John", William and Gordon; sisters, Hazel, Myrtle and Molly; half-sister, Marie. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 9th, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549, Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon, Rev. Mark Marshall officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to QEII Health Sciences Centre, Palliative Care and/or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
