Alfred - Fisherman's Harbor - The death of Alfred Hines, retired
merchant of Fisherman's Harbor, Guysboro County, occurred at Sherbrooke
Hospital early Sunday morning at the age of 79. He was born in Country
Harbor, son of the late Robert J. and Mary Ellen (Beiswanger) Hines, and
served in the Canadian Navy during World War 1. He was an adherent of the
Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Laura Harpell of
Harpellville, one brother, Willard, of Churchville; three sisters, Mrs.
Marian MacKeen, New Glasgow; (Ethel) Mrs. Alfred C. Giffin, Barrie, Ont.;
and Anne, Mrs. George Fisher, Aspen. He was predeceased by a son at birth,
and by two brothers and two sisters. The remains are resting at Fisherman's
Harbor Church with visiting hours this evening from 7-9 p.m. The funeral
will be held from the church on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. with interment
in the Fisherman's Harbor Cemetery. - after the war, Alfred built boats and
was lighthouse keeper at Fisherman's Harbour. (New Glasgow Evening News 07
