In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
WATKINS, Robert (Bob) - passed away peacefully at the age of 101, having lived a full and rewarding life.
Bob was born in Brooklands, Manitoba and grew up in Winnipeg. He was a proud World War II veteran and spent his entire career with Winnipeg Transit, retiring as Superintendent of Schedules.
Bob was the loving husband of Jean (predeceased) for 56 years. He was a devoted father to Debbie Van Der Kraak (Glen) and Sandy Lopushansky. He was a loving grandfather to Lauren (Greg), Wade (Robin), Jaclyn (Trevor), Melissa (Andrew) and Garrett (Janique). He was the proud “Grandpa Senior” to Seth, Colette, Connor and Nolan.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Miriam and siblings Charles and Grace.
Bob loved woodworking, making models, and history. He was committed to volunteer work with HMCS Chippawa from the age of 20-100.
Bob will be greatly missed by his many friends in Winnipeg and in British Columbia. He shared a beautiful friendship with Marie Chammartin, with whom he enjoyed travels, dinners and movies.
The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Health Centre for providing care and compassion in Bob’s final months.
Friendship was central to Bob’s life. He believed in the importance of learning, doing your best and keeping active and supporting others. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. (Arbor Memorial)
