RCN

Born: 15 Jul 1945          Died: 01 May 2026

THOMAS, Roy Stewart - Roy was born in Wales at the end of the Second World War. He was the second child (after sister Peta) to Douglas and Jean Thomas.

Younger siblings Ian and Susan followed soon after.

The family emigrated to Canada in 1958, settling in Burnaby. After attending Burnaby High School he joined the Canadian Navy, serving for 5 years. While in the Navy he moved to and settled in Victoria. He worked there at the Dockyards as a shipwright, eventually advancing to the Quality Control Department before his retirement.

Roy's many hobbies included carpentry, managing a 5 acre farm and racing his Minis at the historic Westwood track. Always a sports car enthusiast, he took great pride in his collection of 3 unique Porches. He was an active member of the Sports Car Club and the Victoria Porsche Club, often joining them in Sunday "Cars and & Coffee", where he enjoyed the camaraderie.

He is survived by his son Tristan, his sister Peta and his brother Ian. He will be missed by friends and family, we hope you enjoy the last lap and Rest In Peace Roy.

A Gathering will be held Sunday, June 7th, 10:30am at Royal Oak Burial Park. (The Victoria Times Colonist 06 Jun 2026)
