MILLER, James Bertram, AB, 2592, RCN, MPK - 22 Oct 1940, HMCS MARGAREE - Son of Robert James Miller and Mabel Miller, of Calgary, Alberta; husband of Frances D. Miller, of Esquimalt, British Columbia.

 

Able Seaman James Bertram Miller, age 26 was born in Calgary and had resided in Victoria for 10 years. He joined the Navy a decade ago and was a survivor of the Fraser sinking.

 

Able Seaman Miller died when his ship, HMCS MARGAREE, was struck by the freighter SS Port Fairy while in convoy and was sunk. 143 of her crew were lost, 86 of them were survivors of HMCS FRASER.
