Roger D. Heimple

Commander, C.A.F. (Navy) / RCN

Died: 01 Aug 2025, Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada

HEIMPLE, Roger D. - It is with great sadness and cherished memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Roger D. Heimpel at Bobby's Hospice on August 1, 2025 at the age of 63, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Roger was from Mitchell, Ontario and served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 35 years, achieving the rank of Commander, before his retirement in 2015. After his retirement, he and Lauralea undertook the restoration of an older home in New Brunswick, making it the retirement home of their dreams. Roger had many hobbies, but was best known for his woodworking skills, gifting many of his creations to family and friends. He also enjoyed reading, music, painting, and spending time surrounded by nature, daily walks with his four-legged companion Coco, cycling, kayaking, hiking, and casting a line into a couple of his favourite fishing holes.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Lauralea; his parents, Marie and Art; son, Frank; stepdaughter, Andrea (Kris); grandchildren, Olivia and Beckett; sisters, Judy (Brian), Lavonne (Pat) and Janine (Glenn); brother, Warren (Donna); as well as many nieces and nephews. Roger was predeceased by his son Ross in May 2022.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424). At Roger's request, there will be no public visitation. The family extends tremendous gratitude to the doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers at Bobby's Hospice for the outstanding care and compassion given to both Roger and Lauralea during his illness. It is the family's wish that any donations in memory of Roger be made to Bobby's Hospice, Saint John (hospicesj.ca). (Brenan's Funeral Home)
