LEOPOLD, Frederick R. (Fred) - Age 82, of Parrsboro passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born in Parrsboro, he was a son of the late Robert and Marie (Smythe) Leopold. Fred served with the Royal Canadian Navy as an aviation technician for six years. He later was as a Correctional Officer working in Shulie, Dorchester and Springhill for more than 30 years. Fred was proud of his time with Corrections Canada and the many members he served with. Upon his retirement, he was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting and trapping, loved raking blueberries, and many Florida vacations with his family. Fred was proud of his family, especially his grandchildren, and always held a special place in his heart for his daughter in law, Terri-Lynn. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Harroun); a daughter, Carla (Scott Olsen); sons, Scott and Brad (Kim Brown), all of Parrsboro; grandchildren, Shelby (Garrett), Nicholas, Camden; brothers-in-law, Cecil Swinamer and Millard (Jean) Harroun; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Terri-Lynn; brothers, Maurice and Jimmy; half-sisters, Geraldine, Ida and Audrey . A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Salvation Army or to a charity of choice. (Smith's Funeral Home)
