In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
JONES, Edward Victor (Ted) - Known to us as Ted, or E.V., and to many sailors, The Chief, passed away in the Gorge Rd. Hospital, Victoria, BC, September 8, 1988, aged 69. A veteran of the Second World War in the Royal Canadian Navy. He served in the latter years on Submarines, HMCS Grilse and HMCS Rainbow, from 1956-1964, as well as a lengthy career in the Regular Force and as a reservist with HMCS Malahat. Ted was a very active employee and union member in the dockyard at CFB Esquimalt for many years. He was also an active member and treasurer of the Victoria C.P.R. Society. We would like to thank the Chief's and Petty Officer's Association, as well as the Legion for their support. A very warm thank you to the staff of the Gorge Rd. Hospital whose kindness and love went beyond their professional requirement. Survived by his wife, Doris; three daughters, Barbara, Sheila and Elaine; grandsons, Ted Jr. and Paul; three brothers, Bob, Bill, Harry and families. We will remember Ted as our friend, teacher and as a kind man who treated people fairly. Ted, we will miss you very much. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, September 13, 1988 at 1:30 p.m. in Chapel of Christ the King, CFB Esquimalt with Father K.R. Greet celebrant. Cremation to follow at Royal Oak Crematorium. In lieu of flowers or cards, please send donations to the Victoria Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society.
