Michael Richard Coggins

Petty Officer 1st Class, C.A.F. (Navy)

Born: 05 Sep 1968           Died: 20 Apr 2022

COGGINS, Michael Richard - Age 53, of Meteghan, son of Walter and Donna Coggins passed away suddenly on April 20, 2022.

Mike had an undeniable love for his wife and children, and a lifelong loyalty to his friends. He was a leader by nature and a true sports fanatic. He was heavily involved with sports from badminton in the early days, to softball, hockey, volleyball and football. During his time within the navy, he became a perennial all-star. His love of playing sports graduated into his love of watching sports, as a fantasy sports champion for his beloved Steelers. He would tell you he was also as good as Tiger Woods on the golf course, in fact he may even say a “Superstar”. His true talent shined when he coached his son in novice hockey. He was his son's biggest fan and most memorable coach. Anyone who knew Mike would know he was a die-hard Philadelphia Flyers fan.

Mike felt his greatest contributions were his children, and he was blessed with his daughter Alixia and son Xavier. His pride in family was apparent in his daily life as he took every opportunity to relay his successes through the achievements of his children. Alixia, with her incredible personality and perseverance was a continual source of pride for Mike. He would often share with his friends how enamored he was with how so much beauty could come from such a selfless person. He also never lost the opportunity to ensure everyone knew that his son was going to shine in his hockey career as the next Claude Giroux.

Mike was a well-respected and highly motivated Engineering Manager most recently with Lockheed Martin Canada for the past 9 years. He was known for his outgoing personality and excellent leadership skills, working and transforming the Supportability team through his energy and vision. He was the kind of leader that put people first and was dedicated to making Lockheed Martin a place where employees felt they were part of a family, always making time for stories and jokes. He made a lasting impact on the lives of many junior engineers within Lockheed Martin. Previous to Lockheed Martin, Mike had a 22-year distinguished career in the Canadian Navy, where he retired as Petty Officer 1st Class.

He is survived by his loving wife Helene Coggins, children; Alixia Coggins (Francois), Xavier Coggins; parents, Walter/Donna Coggins; father-in-law, Pierre Loranger (Michelle), siblings, Tina (Larry) Bond, Melissa (Adrien) Deveau, Stephen (Claudine) Coggins, sister-in-law; Annie Larouche (Marc), brother-in-law; Guy Loranger (Karine) and several nieces and nephews.
