Captain Marmaduke Rose and his second eldest son William Herbert Rose serving onboard CD-25 (Royal Navy Reserve - assigned to new RCN) obtained this collection of photographs. Captain Rose's eldest son (Robert Clayton Rose) was serving in the Royal Nfld Regiment during WW I, and was the individual responsible for their preservation. He in turn passed on the collection along with his knowledge of events to his second eldest son Donald Clayton (Bud) Rose, then serving with the Royal Canadian Navy.
